An Eclectic Collection of Photos from the 80's and 90's

Again, some more photos of disparate subjects taken in the 80's and 90's.

First off is some scans of postcards from the Western Australian Military Museum, which was located at a Theme Park in Wanneroo.   Dizzy Lamb Park (I kid you not!) has long since gone and I guess the vehicles depicted below have all been relocated to other parts.

I told you it was real!

The next 5 photos were taken by my dear old Mum at an Open Day at Kapooka Army Base in country New South Wales in the 90's.

The first 2 are of the Leopard AS1, which entered service in 1977, replacing the venerable Centurion.    Australia obtained 101 of these tanks, which never fired a shot in anger.  No idea who the guy in the brown jacket is, other than he might be an early photo bomber!

The next 2 photos are of the M113 MRV (Medium Reconnaissance Vehicle).   This was the successor to the Fire Support Version, which mounted the 76 mm gun and turret from the Saladin Armoured Car.   The MRV had additional flotation sponsons as well as the turret from the Scorpion Armoured Vehicle.

40/60 Bofors Gun

This gun is located in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales and was presented to the city in 1981 by the First Recruit Training Battalion.   This version was known as the Number 12 and had a joystick type controller, gyro gunsight and onboard generator for powered elevation and traverse.

120 mm L2 Anti Tank Gun

Absolutely no idea where this was taken, though it was probably in New South Wales.   A fine copy of the Britain's version!
